HIV vaccine trial in Africa halted after disappointing initial results
The first trial in Africa testing two combination vaccines to prevent HIV has been halted after researchers determined that the vaccines were not effective.
The trial, known as the PrEPVacc trial, was being conducted on 1,500 people aged 18 to 40 in Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa.
The final results of the trial are expected to be released in late 2024. [ more ]
